Balfour Beatty wins a £ 52m contract for HS2

Balfour Beatty secured a £ 52m contract for HS2 Phase 2A. The contractor won the contract for early environmental works for the route between Birmingham and Crowe – the first to be signed since Parliament approved the station in February. The works include creating new forests as wetlands as part of the mega project’s environmental mitigation efforts. Colette Carroll, HS2 Delivery Manager, Phase 2A, said the award shows the project is bringing HS2 benefits to the North earlier than originally planned. Mark Bullock, Chief Executive Officer of Balfour Beatty Construction Services UK added: “The Balfour Beatty contract with HS2 builds on the ‘Building a New Future’ strategy, through which we commit to leaving a lasting positive legacy to the communities in which we operate.” Our work will work on the road between Crowe and the West Midlands are on building a better and greener future for all – through our ongoing and essential work to protect the environment, and our continued focus on providing employment for local companies and individuals. ”Balfour Beatty has already been named to a ground investigation contract worth £ 25m and £ 30m on Stage in November of last year.A separate early business package was also revealed at the time, with the winner being chosen from the Construction and Government-Related Services Framework, which includes 14 companies including Balfour, CARE, and Interserve.
