Stothers M&E provides construction engineering services throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland, with regional offices in Glasgow and Warrington, and the national contractor in Belfast has received £ 75 million to develop two towers in Manchester. In order to ensure residents’ safety and protection from fire, Stothers worked with Aico to leverage their groundbreaking 3000 series throughout development. The new homes for private rent will transform the Cornbrooke area of Trafford, Manchester, providing a new lease of life in an unused location near a tram stop. Comprising one and two bedroom units, duplex apartments and townhouses, the project will also include a library, gymnasium, private gardens and resident lounge areas with the aim of creating strong community bonds. In line with requirements, the project will see the installation of over 1,800 ECO fire and carbon monoxide alarms in 363 apartments. Aico is proud to be a pioneer in home life safety, offering a diverse range of devices and solutions to ensure protection for every home. Cornbrook’s development will use Aico’s technologically advanced 3000 series, including the pioneering multi-sensor fire alarm, for complete coverage. Duncan Orr, Aico’s Regional Specification Manager, worked closely with Stothers to ensure the correct fire alarm solution for each property was on hand to provide technical support for residences with unusual layouts. Duncan comments: “It was a pleasure working with Stothers on this prestigious project of 363 luxury apartments. Thanks to our unique Multi-Sensor technology, we were able to overcome the challenges posed by the open design of the apartments, thus ensuring a reliable and hassle-free system for future occupants. “With the required LD1 category installed for the residences, Stothers M&E chose Aico due to its high level of customer support and technical advice and a wide product range,” says Neil Alexander, Project Electrical Contracts Manager. “We pride ourselves on installing high-quality equipment that is demonstrated by very few Defects throughout post-delivery With more than 1,800 Aico devices in this project, reliability is key. ” The major development of luxury residences in Kornbrook is slated for completion in August 2021.
