DIY Center Finder for Woodworking Projects

0

There’s a quick and easy way to find the center of the board – you don’t need a tape measure or to solve complex math problems, just do a self-centering jig! To do this, drill three holes in a short length of 1 by 2. At each end of the 1×2 hole, drill a 3/8-inch hole, then drill a 5/16-inch hole in the center, then take a 2-inch hole long, 3/8. An inch diameter wood screws hammered into the outer holes. These are the pins. When using the center finder, simply place it on a board and rotate it until the pins are touching the edges, then place your pencil in the center hole and slide it along. You will have a line exactly down the middle of the board! The size of the board doesn’t matter, as long as the jig is long enough, and the hole center of the jig is exactly in the middle between the pins.
