Donaldson has expanded its Filter Minder Connect solution to monitor fuel filters and engine oil status in heavy-duty engines. The system was previously available only to filter engine air in highway trucks and off-road equipment. Filter Minder is designed to cope with situations when filters are changed too early – which increases costs and inefficiencies – and when they are also changed late, which can lead to additional costs and unplanned downtime. System components can be installed on the equipment in a matter of minutes. Donaldson says the system is integrated into the on-board remote information system and fleet management system. Filter Minder sensors and receiver bring performance wirelessly to the cloud. Sensors and receivers bring performance wirelessly to the cloud and use predictive analytics to notify users when filters and engine oil are nearing the end of their life. The filter-operated sensors can measure pressure drop and differential pressure on fuel filters, as well as the condition of the engine oil, including density, viscosity, dielectric stability and resistance, the company says. If you also use Geotab Tracking and Fleet Management software in conjunction with Filter Minder Connect, you can receive fleet data and analytics via the MyGeotab dashboard.
