Introduced by Eurovia Contracting, the new battery powered ECR25 Electric supplied by Volvo dealer SMT GB, is the only battery powered excavator weighing three tons on the market. It is Eurovia’s first electrically powered excavator as well as the first Volvo. “We are on our way to achieve a 40% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030, which is very important for a company with a high degree of autonomy,” said Matt Stubbings, Division Director, Eurovia Contracting. “The introduction of battery-powered machines is the key to achieving this goal.” Of the new device, he said: “It is definitely a game-changer, and we can’t wait to add a larger, more powerful, emissions-free fleet to our fleet.” “Urban operations will particularly benefit from noise reduction and zero emissions, and this will be the first of many Eurovia operations,” said managing director Phil Skej. The zero-wing ECR25 Electric has the same performance specifications as its diesel counterpart. The 48V lithium battery pack provides 20kWh, 450Ah to drive a permanent magnet electric motor, which is used to drive the hydraulic system of the excavator. The maximum motor power is 18kW, it drops to 14.7kW during continuous operation. This also allows the ECR25 Electric to offer convertible working modes, via Standard, Eco and Boost settings via an in-cab display. The manufacturer says the ECR25 Electric can run a four-hour shift on a full charge, and it’s available with two charging options: one through a 16-amp power supply for fast overnight charging, and the other is a 32-amp fast charging system that can achieve a full charge in about 75 minutes. . Eurovia Contracting has also purchased solar powered batteries to reduce dependence on traditional diesel generators. Do you have a story? Email [email protected].
