Read on to find out the signs that you’ve officially overstayed. Lots of Clutter As your family grows, property tends to pile up as well. Do your kids have toys and sports equipment everywhere? Did you get many holiday souvenirs? Your life experiences may have generated a lot of belongings. In fact, about 50% of people said they had amassed new property during their first year in their new home. Items and clever storage solutions can only be disinfected so far; Upgrading to a larger home is probably the best option. The neighborhood isn’t what it used to be. Does your neighborhood change? This could be another sign that you have overstayed. You may have bought a home in a comfortable community, but it is now expanding due to new real estate developments. Neighborhood safety may have diminished. Whatever the case, if you feel uncomfortable with your current living situation, it may be time to look for a new home in a different area. Long trip to work If you’ve changed your profession or landed your dream job in a new area, you may be dealing with a long and stressful commute. If this affects your health and the quality of time you spend with your family, it may be a good idea to look for a property closer to the office. This way, you will have more time to rest and be with your loved ones. Your home has lost its charm Has your property’s features and quirkiness lost its luster? You may have fallen in love with the stained-glass windows, antique light fixtures, and pocket doors when you first moved in, but now they look noisy. If it can’t be remodeled, it’s time to move on. DIY Projects Aren’t Complete Have you given up on those bathroom makeovers? Do some walls in your home still need a drywall repair? If you don’t plan on finishing DIY projects any time soon, it may be a sign that you don’t feel at home in your current space. If you live in an unfinished home and renovations are too expensive, it may be time to break up. Additional family members If you are planning to have more children or if you have elderly parents moving home, you may find that space is limited. This can make everyday life uncomfortable.
