They shared their public tutorial here and it went viral! Since then, we’ve been inundated with requests for more detailed carpentry plans for specific letterpress growers. As you can see in the video above, a composite miter saw is essential for the thinners and edges required to make wood monogram shapes. A table saw is also recommended for a tight bevel fit onto planter slices, but you can also trim boards crosswise (with or without bevelling) using a circular saw. (When you play your DIY game and buy a table saw, make sure to build a nice workbench for the table saw too!) You will also need a hole punch pocket to assemble the support, a nailer, a drill / driver, as well as an outdoor / outdoor wood glue. For any woodworking plan, we also recommend tape clips, high-quality tape measure, joiner’s box and, of course, adequate safety gear! How much does it cost to build this large planter monogram? This single single planter is quite large and when littered with dirt and plants, it is heavy as well. To hold this safely and securely, we recommend drilling directly through the planter support and into the side of the home (or fence) using extra long screws in multiple places. What can I plant in a monogram vertical planter? You will need to plant flowers that will bloom according to the grower’s location. It is important to match the needs of the sun and shade! A planter provides about 3 1/2 ″ of soil depth, so most annuals will do well when their sun, water, and soil needs are met. Readers report success in growing portulaca (moss rose), viola plants, violets, and birds, too. Succulents (with a well-prepared soil mix) or herbs can also be grown on this vertical planter.
