The emerging renewable energy installers will receive free assistance to launch their business on the ground and obtain certification for small-scale renewables installation. The new schemes support service has been launched by the MCS (Miniature Obstetric Certification System). Designed for anyone considering becoming MCS Certified – or those already proven – it offers one-on-one advice, workshops, master classes, and sharing of technical information and experience. A newly appointed team will provide online, phone or face-to-face guidance to those working towards MCS certification, along with technical support on how to comply with MCS requirements. MCS has appointed industry figures, Julian Hodgson and Steve Webster, who will travel across the UK in their new positions and meet with installers to introduce the new service. Julian is a trained and trained heating engineer with over 30 years experience in the industry and a lifetime environmental expert, with a true passion for all things renewable. As a former trainer, technical evaluator and installer of renewable heating installations, Julian has MCS experience from both sides of the fence. A member of CIPHE and EngTech with the UK Engineering Council, Steve is a qualified heating and renewable energy engineer with a degree and trainer. He has years of hands-on experience in design and installation, having run his own small and successful business in heating and renewable energy certified MCS to install PV technologies, heat pumps and solar heat. MCS CEO Ian Repin said: “There is an abundance of opportunities in small-scale renewables, and with talk of radical new commitments on climate change from the government, we need to develop the workforce.” We are working hard to remove barriers to entry for workers. Installation, having recognized the challenges we face when trying to make the hub in the renewable energy sector. The launch of this free MCS chart marks the beginning of this and I’m thrilled to welcome Steve and Julian on board. Their technical knowledge and friendly nature will be well accepted by installers and I think they will make a real difference in this sector. ”MCS Scheme Support aims to help prepare for certification but is separate from it.
