myenergi redesigns products in response to global chip shortage

myenergi, the award-winning British company of renewable energy products for managing environmental smart homes, today completed a major product redesign project in response to challenges posed by the global shortage of silicon. With lead times for some microprocessors now exceeding 52 weeks, the lack of silicon is causing major productivity problems for companies around the world. At the same time, myenergi is seeing increased demand for its energy control products as the world races towards Net Zero Carbon adoption and Electric Vehicle (EV) is gaining momentum and consumers become more aware of their energy use in the home. To future-proof the business and ensure that demand will not outstrip supply in the long run, myenergi’s team of innovative engineers dealt with an impending supply issue, working around the clock to redesign its entire product portfolio. The updated designs work on a new, more powerful microprocessor that is not affected by the lack of silicon. Besides enabling increased production of myenergi zappi, eddi, harvi and hub products, a more powerful microprocessor will facilitate additional features over time, giving customers greater control over their energy consumption at home. Dr Chris Horn, Head of Technology at Minergy, commented: “The global shortage of silicon has caused difficulties for many sectors globally, with ever-increasing lead times for microchips leading to production halts in automobiles, shortages of consumer goods and skyrocketing prices for computer components. , to name a few.” As a major component of our products, we were building inventory to make up for shortfalls and cover our plans to boost production, but we knew this problem would continue for the foreseeable future. In light of this, we moved quickly to change our operating platform, and completed the project in just three months. We are now in a strong position to meet the growing demand for our range of efficient energy control products, which continues to grow as global momentum increases towards net zero carbon.” Jordan Brompton, Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer, Myenergi, added: “We have effectively innovated ourselves out of the challenging situations, demonstrating the speed and flexibility needed to stand out in today’s rapidly evolving technology landscape. Thanks to the dedication of our R&D department, every product in our range has been re-engineered to ensure compatibility with a new, more powerful and less commonly used type of microchip, making our products capable of more than before while providing a full range of additional features and customer benefits.”
