As part of its ongoing work to support candidates who take AM2, AM2S, or AM2E, National Electrotechnical Training (NET) has launched a new app that allows people to try some of the tests they’ll encounter in the assessment. Developed jointly with famous industry personality Sparky Ninja, the app offers five major tests: 1. Continuity of protective conductors 2. Continuity of toroidal terminal circuit conductors 3. Insulation resistance 4. Ground fault loop resistance 5. Possible fault current. For each test there is a video tutorial with Sparky Ninja describing and performing the steps involved. Then via a series of interactive tasks, users can take the test by dragging and clicking on the mobile test tool, dashboard, and other equipment. NET developed the new application because screening and testing is a section of AM2 where many candidates do not meet the required standard, after errors such as not taking the test correctly or not preparing the test tool properly before starting the test. “While this is of course not a substitute for appropriate, practical examination and testing in real life, the application can serve as a useful review tool for candidates in preparation for their assessment,” said Carolyn Mason, CEO of NET. “NET is constantly investing in ways to help give candidates the best chance of success; we hope that through this application they will take some extra time to prepare for the screening and testing department, along with their training provider and employer to make sure they have sufficient work experience in the field.” David Watts – aka Sparky Ninja -: “Working with .NET to expand and raise awareness of their excellent candidate resources has been a key part for me in helping raise standards in electrical training. It is important for all candidates to start considering their AM2 competency assessment as soon as possible. possible time in their learning journey.” The app is available for download from Apple and Google Play.
