Planning resumes for Edinburgh eye hospital

Graham Construction was selected in 2018 to develop the new eye hospital for NHS Lothian but funding was later withdrawn. Health Minister Hamza Yusuf has now confirmed that the business case has been approved by the Scottish Government and that the NHS Lothian has been invited to submit a full business case. The project will be part of a £10 billion investment in an NHS property over the next 10 years, leading to the renovation and replacement of health facilities across Scotland. Yusuf said: “I am delighted that we are one step closer to providing advanced, specialized eye services to the city of Edinburgh and the region as a whole. “The Scottish Government is committed to working closely with NHS Lothian to meet demand for eye care, with improvements for patients and a more modern service.” Earlier this year, The Scottish government has asked the NHS Lothian to carry out a review of eye care services, including redesigning treatment to enable patients to access care closer to home.Do you have a story?Email [email protected]
