The Renewable Energy Installers Training and Support Program (RHITSS) launched at the beginning of the year, offered installers up to 70% off the training required to become a heat pump, solar thermal engineer or biomass engineer – some of the most popular and accessible renewable technologies. Beginning July 7, single installers who missed the first round of coupons will have the opportunity to apply again. All 1,000 voucher schemes were initially accepted within days, however some installers did not apply to book their training within the allotted time frame. These unused vouchers are now available to building service engineers looking for a low-cost way to take advantage of market opportunities offered by renewables. The funding, administered by GTEC, covers renewable energy qualifications, as well as any other pre-requisite courses – such as energy efficiency or hot water systems. Installers can choose to complete a combination of training or only individual qualifications, depending on their specific requirements. “For current plumbing and heating engineers, training in the most popular renewable technologies is a great way to future-proof business. Currently, there are not enough qualified heat pump installers to meet projected demand, and it will ensure that Increased skills in this field and other areas such as solar thermal work for many years to come.” The modern heating engineer needs to be trained in a range of technologies to meet the most diverse requirements of low carbon buildings. The RHITTS scheme offers a great opportunity to do this cost-effectively, while covering all the necessary qualifications.” Training is offered by LCL Awards and BPEC Centres. GTEC-accredited LCL Awards is one of the most well-established and equipped in the country, ideal for installers in Yorkshire and the surrounding areas (The GTEC center is located in Hawes, North Yorkshire.) Funding is available for: – Technology-specific training in: heat pumps, solar thermal, and biomass Supporting qualifications: – Hot water systems and safety (G3) – Energy efficiency for home heating – Can Use WRAS funding for any of these qualifications individually – you don’t have to do a rolling qualification – or together, like heat pumps and WRAS, for example. Coupons are available for first come service Please apply by calling GTEC directly at 01969 666111 or Reserve your voucher by visiting the RHITSS website.
