Don’t worry, it won’t. It cost you anything. The weather is getting warmer fast and outdoor entertainment has really started for us in Las Vegas. But, for most people in the country, the weather is ideal for spring cleaning and getting ready for the first party of the year. My husband and I love to have friends and family all year round and enjoy our backyard. Sometimes we have friends for a simple dessert night instead of preparing a big dinner. It’s easy and fun to get everyone together and enjoy your spring and summer evenings. Every March we start beautifying the backyard. Here’s how we love to clean spring! Clean the bushes and trees First We pick up all the dead leaves and twigs in the front and back yard. We cut all the bushes and trees so that the green will start to appear as soon as possible. Empty all dead plant pots around the yard and start spring with fresh fruit trees or flowers. My kids love to help clean up their backyards, especially if I make some lemonade after their chores. Clean out the patio and furniture. We always spray the patio and wash the chairs. Taking out bird droppings is not fun, but a must. Nobody wants to wear a new summer dress and get dirty from an unclean chair. We also mop the yard after cleaning to remove any pesky thorns or insects. I use hose and dish soap to clean my patio and chairs. Now is the time for the fun part! Decor A good spring cleaning is not complete without some nice decor! The best part is decorating your backyard with plants, flowers, colorful tablecloths, and furniture. I love succulents and they are very easy to survive. I water mine 1-2 times a week in the summer. I got this golden bowl at Anthropologie for under $ 15. I also love the options here! Music I’m obsessed with my Urban Outfitters record player. It was my husband’s Christmas gift but I know it was under $ 100. They come in many colors. You can find cute ones on amazon like these! My mom and dad have a lot of vinyls and we’ve shared a few with me. When we were kids, we would dance around the record player late at night and sing as loud as possible. I want my children to love music as much as I do. I found a great Vegas record store that’s been around for 25 years and sells new and used vinyl. My most recent discoveries have been Johnny Cash, Van Morrison, and Abba. My kids love to listen to the recordings outside. Music on summer evenings is everything. Flowers love flowers. They can brighten any occasion and are not too expensive if you buy them from Farmers’ Market or Trader Joes. Candles You can buy citronella candles to keep pesky pests away. Glass candle holders can be hung on a tree or used to decorate the table. I got it in the global market for less than $ 7. Small was $ 3. The table cloth was also from the world market when clearing. Lighting Hanging lights is a double act. Sometimes I have to watch him because he wants to be like Clark Grizzwald and hangs a million lights. I like big bulbs. You can get it anywhere: Target, Global Market, Walmart and so on, let’s get our spring cleaning party started! We decided to have a big Easter party this year and get all our friends together to enjoy this lovely time of the year. We had a great evening and everyone helped with the food. I don’t usually ask my friends to bring food, but because they’ve all offered to help, I let them. I have to admit it made it less stressful and I had more time to decorate. The best part of the evening is when everyone has enough to eat and it’s time to sit down and enjoy each other’s company. We even let Iris out of the barn to enjoy the party. I hope this gets you very excited about your summer parties in your own backyard. What spring cleaning or decorating tips do you have to spruce up your backyard for summer entertaining? Ashley
