Depending on which microwave safe bowl you are using, this will take about 45 seconds. Watch for it because the butter melts quickly and you don’t want to make an extra mess to clean it up if the butter splashes. Prepare an 8 x 8 or 9 x 9 square dish with a thin layer of nonstick spray. Then pour the melted butter on the bottom of the dish. The biscuit dough is now swimming in the butter:) Place the cookie dough over the melted butter. This is easily done with a rubber spatula. Once you have placed all of the dough in the baking dish, gently push the dough so that it is evenly distributed throughout. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but you do want the dough to bake evenly. It’s an easy task, so don’t hesitate to get the kids to help with this part:) After that, use the spoon to “slice” the square biscuit pieces. These don’t have to be perfect, but they sure come out perfect once you bake the dough! It’s really cool 🙂 If you don’t have a perfectly square plate, that’s okay too! Use what you have, and watch the cookies as they bake. All you need is for the top to turn golden. Tasty! The Swimming Pool Butter Cookies are perfect for any size or shape of baking dish, and in any oven. They bake at 450 degrees for 25 minutes. Of course, the baking time may vary slightly depending on the size of your plate. The key to making the perfect butter cookie: Don’t use a small baking dish – I recommend using an 8-by-8-inch or 9-by-9-inch deep skillet for a buttery swimming biscuit. Don’t over-mix – if you over-mix the dry ingredients with yogurt, the dough can become thick rather than fluffy.
