The experts at NET answer a common question related to training. Q: Why can’t I get detailed feedback on my AM2 failure? I need to know where I went wrong, so I know what to focus on next time. This is an area where NET has listened to your opinions and made changes recently. As of April 2021, the AM2 score sheet lists a series of statements regarding the failing department/divisions, so that candidates can understand more about where they did not meet the standard. For example, “Select the correct cable according to specifications,” or “Placing the equipment according to the specifications issued.” We are often asked for more details on specific points, such as “Which cable did I choose correctly?” , or “How did you put the device incorrectly?” There is a balance between providing helpful feedback and revealing too many details – if we tell everyone exactly what they failed at, and answer the questions above, it won’t take long for people to come up with comprehensive specifications and labeling standards, which threatens the confidentiality of the assessment. Evaluation should be fair to all, rather than giving an unfair advantage to those who try to undermine the industry standard by researching what is essentially a “test paper” before evaluating them. The AM2 is an assessment of your overall industrial competency rather than a “train to pass” test. If you have been fully trained, have sufficient experience in all areas included in the checklist, and have carefully studied the pre-assessment guide, the AM2 scale is a fair benchmark of the standard that you should be able to meet.
