The Hope Valley Capacity Scheme project is one of the government’s priority transportation plans in northern England, in line with its “leveling” agenda. Network Rail is now finalizing detailed designs that will improve sections of the railroads between Bamford Station and Jaggers Lane Bridge in Hathersage, and around Dore & Totley Station, where a second platform will also be added. Work is expected to begin in 2022 and complete in 2023. There are two main components of the contract awarded to VolkerRailStory JV: 1. Dore and Totley Station – creating a second line at Dore Station Junction and extending the route between West View Lane and Dore South Junction, in addition to Building a second platform on Dore Station and improving mode on Heely Loop. 2. Bamford Loop – Create a one-kilometer traffic loop along the existing railway line east of Bamford Station to bypass slower freight trains. VolkerRail Operations Manager Paul Jones said: “This project will create much-needed improvements for travelers in the north of England. Through a collaborative approach, with our joint venture partner, Story, we aim to build for the future as we carry out important upgrades along the network. The rural sites, in which we will work, provide beautiful scenery for the passengers, and we will ensure the minimum impact on the natural environment. ” Do you have a story?
